Paris is known to many as the city of love and I fell in love with it on my first visit. This view of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower at sunset was taken from the Pont de L’Alma as we were walking to dinner one evening. Paris is certainly high on my list of cities to return to soon. There is just something about the vibe of the place.
These are the cloisters at Lacock Abbey in Wiltshire. If this reminds you of a scene from Harry Potter, that is because this was used as a location for a couple of the films. Lacock Abbey was built in 1232 and became a private residence after the dissolution of the monasteries, during the reign of Henry VII in the 16th century. The abbey church was demolished, but the cloisters remain. Lacock Abbey later became the home of one of the pioneers of photography, William Henry Fox Talbot, and there now is a museum dedicated to his work at the site. nice image. At first I thought this was in New York. Seattle is often associated with coffee as it is home to the first Starbucks store, just around the corner from here. This neon coffee cup sign, which is outside a different cafe, has become quite an iconic symbol of Seattle and most visitors take some sort of photo of it. We spent four days in this great city and passed by here several times, but on this occasion we were treated to a pretty spectacular sunset sky and I just had to catch a few shots. A cropped version of this photo has been used on the CD Coffee Land by the virtuoso concert flutist, Laurel Zucker. Coffee Land was released on 25th July 2013 and can be found on Amazon, iTunes and other good music sites. I’ve seen this coffee cup many times while visiting my brother in Gig Harbor (south of Seattle). Never there when it was placed against such a fabulous backdrop. It’s a beautiful image that not many would see. Nicely done. Hey Joe, thanks very much. I’ve recently heard that the cafe has changed hands and the sign is no longer there, so I’m glad I got the shot when I did. We certainly hope to visit Seattle again sometime. Here’s another black and white long exposure abstract image. This is actually a brightly coloured pole in the grounds of the Bauhaus Museum in Berlin, but I saw it as something else and have leaned it over and converted it to monochrome. Is it a pole or a magic wand? I’ll leave it to you to decide. Sunrise on the island of Komandoo in the Maldives is at a very civilised time of around 7am, so you don’t have to get up very early to enjoy it. Even though I would never describe this island as crowded, at this time of the morning, you can pretty much have it to yourself. […] Ian Good […] |
